No Rest for the Champs
As Jose Miguel Romero of the Seattle Times informs us, Coach Holmgren will not be resting any starters despite having clinched the division. “We still have a lot to look for… and a lot to play for in the regular season,” Holmgren says, “and we’re going to do that.”
The Seahawks are still mathematically in contention for one of the top two seeds in the NFC, though they will need a bit of luck to really have a chance. The Cowboys can clinch a bye with a win or Seattle loss, and the Packers can do the same with a pair of wins or a win and a Seahawks loss. Seattle also has to worry about Tampa Bay stealing the third seed, though the Bucs are technically two games behind due to their loss to the ‘Hawks in the season opener.
Who are these stupid reporters asking these ridiculous questions? Of course they aren’t going to rest their starters with 3 games left… Were Holmgren to bench a few starters and lose the remaining games, they’d be in the same position as last year, finishing 9-7 and sliding ass-first into the 4th seed… Seattle has about the same odds to snag a bye that Shaun Alexander has to break a 99-yard touchdown run with that mommy-I-need-to-be-changed gait of his, but I can guarantee we’ll be seeing all the starters for the duration of the next 2 weeks…
